World of Darkness Humor

The World of Darkness features games of Gothic horror and desperate violence, each offering its own take on this essential theme. While a little levity can help offset the feelings of hopelessness and fear the setting engenders in the players and their characters, a good Storyteller should never forget that World of Darkness is a horror setting.
That having been said, however, we can't take this gaming shit too seriously. I invest a lot of time and emotion into gaming, and it's my all-time favorite hobby. But, I mean, we're adults (with a smattering of teens), who sit around and play make-believe. We like to think we're debonair vampires seducing mortals of their blood, reality-warping mages, tragic werewolves raging against the dying of the light, or what-the-hell-ever. Some of us even dress up in wacky outfits and go running around in the woods, or rent out semi-deserted shopping malls for this purpose. And thus we turkeys let our alter-egos soar like graceful eagles. And for a while, we're free from our humdrum lives and failed relationships and dead friends and pot bellies and our countless personal failures and all the unfair limitations imposed on us by an uncaring God. Roleplaying is elaborate masturbation, all of it, sophisticated but essentially no different than the make-believe games of children. And while gaming is fun, and like it, I don't delude myself into thinking it's anything more than a game.
And sometimes being aware of the inanity of it all can be fun. So I parody my favorite gaming company, White Wolf, not out of disrespect for them or their product, but because... well, because I'm warped and need to share my unusual takes on things. Just for the hell of it, really. So while I think any Storyteller who allows any of this stuff into a serious chronicle should be shot on general principle (as he's not maintaining the essential feel of the World of Darkness), if you really want to go through the time and effort of running and playing this stuff in a World of Silliness, be my guest. Mostly, though, this stuff is just here to make you laugh. (Whether any of this low-brow stuff is actually does is another matter...) Feel free to flame me at my Facebook or MySpace page
