The V-Team

The V-Team

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. During the 80s, still wanted by the government, they survived as soldiers of fortune.
In 1995, the "A-Team" was hired by a woman who wanted to bring down the Mafia crime boss responsible for her husband and son's death. Unknown to her, this criminal was in fact a Ventrue elder of the Ordu Dracul. The A-Team managed to blow through the smokescreens and layers of retainers the vampire threw up, and during the face-to-face confrontation the renegade soldiers discovered the horrifying truth. Rattled but undaunted, the A-Team managed to destroy the Kindred. Armed with what little knowledge they were able to attain, they began hunting vampires, taking out several Unaligned and Carthians within the following year.
The local Invictus was impressed with the A-Team's efficiency, though understandably concerned for their own safety and the Masquerade breach. While some declared that the mercenaries must be disposed of, an influential Sheriff lobbied in the favor of the mortals. It was decided that they were to be Embraced, as their prowess was needed to combat anarchists aligned with the Carthian movement ans a recent influx of Belial's Brood. They were brought into the fold by four different Kindred. Though they prove difficult to manipulate, they now serve as some of the First Estate's most skilled and resourceful vampires.
So if you have a problem, if your clan and sire can't help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the V-Team.

John "Hannibal" Smith
Ventrue

Arguably the most effective member of the V-Team, Smith is used to disguise, subterfuge and misdirection -- perfect qualities for a vampire maintaining the Masquerade. Smith is reportedly not happy with the Requiem, but has nonetheless adapted well to it, secretly establishing a network of allies among Carthian Kindred.
Smith isn't a typical Ventrue. He's not nearly as concerned with power, prestige and temporal wealth as he is with leading his team in stalking and eliminating vampiric threats to the mortal populace. He even does this of his own accord, without waiting for orders. This independent streak has Smith's superiors worried, though they consider him too valuable to eliminate (and, truth be told, they fear him and the V-Team too much to try).

Bosco "B.A." Baracus
Gangrel

Unlike Smith, Baracus makes no secret of his aversion to vampirism. Though he respects his fellow V-Team members (and to a lesser extent his sire), he doesn't like the world he has been thrust into. Though he was gentle during his living years and would only subdue his opponents, Baracus now vents his anger at other vampires. He has even sent a few to Final Death. He struggles to maintain his Humanity, though is losing ground because of his violent tendencies. Even Smith, who genuinely likes and respects Baracus, is finding it difficult to keep the Gangrel's increasingly erratic behavior in check. However, B.A. still has a soft spot for mortals, especially children, and won't cause any harm one under any circumstances -- even if she is a ghoul trying to kill him.
Baracus' mechanical skills come in handy as often, if not more, than his incredible strength. With the assistance of his fellows, he can do things like transform a broken-down car, air pump and a few sheets of scrap metal into a one-use bulletproof tank.

Jim "Howling Mad" Murdock
Mekhet

Murdock was widely known for his zany ways in life, but his behavior has moderated a great deal since his Embrace. Strangely enough, the Requiem appears to have cured the insanity which he had in life. He's now quiet, focused and analytical, with rarely a joke or goofy smirk to spare. But those close to him know madness seethes just below the surface. This insanity manifests as bouts of extreme violence that leave his enemies screaming and gibbering, or periods of inconsolable and near-suicidal self-loathing.
His allies pain to see this dramatic change in him (even B.A., who previously found Murdock's crazy hijinks intolerable). Though Murdock hadn't been truly sane since the Vietnam War, the majority of his madness was an act, a front put forth to cover the pain and trauma he suffered during the conflict. But now the act is off, and his slip into true madness has just begun. He is a skilled pilot and driver, and has been honing his marksmanship skills as of late; no one knows what this unpredictable Mekhet is planning.

Templeton "Face Man" Peck
Daeva

Of all the members of the V-Team, Peck has adapted to his unlife the most seamlessly. It's safe to say his behavior and modus operandi haven't changed that much, and is as smooth and personable as ever -- even more so, considering his new-found Majesty and other abilities. He has amassed an impressive retinue of allies, followers and contacts since his Embrace. Peck serves as an unintentional source of stability for the V-Team, as his nature has remained constant and reminds the friends of better times.
With Smith's blessings and without the knowledge of his sire or the rest of the Invictus, Peck has established safehouses and support for the team in New York, South Vietnam, Cambodia and Miami. He is also, unknown even to the Carthian radicals themselves, helping them gain a foothold in the Los Angeles area. He and the V-Team plan to desert the ranks of the L.A. Invictus soon, using the inter-covenant conflict as cover for their escape. Then the V-Team will be free to hunt any and all vampires.

B.A. stood there, giggling at them. "You thought I'd fall for it, didn't you? Thought I'd drink from that doped-up vessel. I told you, I ain't gettin' on no plane! Now get her off my bed."
Hannibal, Face and Murdock look around uncomfortably. Face shrugs, and bends over to pick up the woman lying on the cot. "Well, you caught us," he says. "It was worth a shot, though." Face struggles with the limp woman, and looks over at B.A. "So fine, you win. Wanna give me a hand here, will ya?"
Still laughing, B.A. stoops to pick up the woman. In a decisive movement, the woman comes up with a hidden stake and buries it to the hilt in B.A.'s chest. Hannibal and Murdock catch the torpored Gangrel as he falls forward, as Face helps his retainer off the bed. "Thank you darling, I owe you one..."
