The Howling Void

The Howling Void

Welcome! This is your gateway to The Howling Void, my humble web page. Herein are my attempts at gaming stuff, humor, fiction, and some odds and ends.

Note: I've applied fonts to my page, and if you have those fonts installed my page will look much cooler. Go to Mr. Gone's Page, click the Fonts link in the leftmost frame, download those fonts and install 'em. Thanks Chris Leland for providing these fonts for us, free of charge.

The Howling Void Blog: Here's my disjointed blog, full of whatever's on my mind when I'm writing it. Topics range from gaming to politics to weird humor.

Social Networking: Yeah, I'm on Facebook and MySpace. I'm so trendy. Just use the message function to mail me. (I've learned my lesson about putting my email address on a public web page.)

Shadowrun: My brand new Shadowrun page, a game I've long enjoyed but have only recently got around to developing material for. And more stuff is in the works. Right now I have plenty of material to peruse, so feel free.
Upgrades has a brief list of house rules. The Menagerie presents new metahuman variants and sapients. My Mysticism page has new magic rules, traditions, spells and adept powers. And finally, Dark Ops Tech gives SR4 rules for Perfect Dark weapons (yes, the old N64 game).

White Wolf Games: My extensive World of Darkness material, inspired by White Wolf's games.
While I'm keeping this up, I'm probably not going to be adding to my WW games materials very much anymore. Not that my love for WW's games have gone away, but I don't have much time to develop more material for it. And honestly, WW isn't supporting the games I love anymore, while the number of fans that do grows ever smaller. So I devote my time and energy to other things, more current and relevant to me.
I primarily focus on the original World of Darkness, and have written material for Vampire: the Masquerade, Kindred of the East, Werewolf: the Apocalypse, Mage: the Ascension, Wraith: the Oblivion and Demon: the Fallen.
For those of you that prefer the new World of Darkness, I have a mixed collection of rules material for the base setting and miscellaneous stuff, as well as a good chunk of Werewolf: the Forsaken stuff. Finally, I give the Aberrant supers game its due.

Fiction and Poetry: Here are a lot short stories I've written, plus a little poetry and bent haiku.

Random Scribbles: My amateurish drawings, collected in a convenient index for you to browse through. Hey, I never said it was quality work...

Mississippi's Mistake: These are my opinions on Mississippians' decision to keep the Stars & Bars flying in the corner of the state flag. Also included is a little contrition; I stepped over a few lines in my initial rant, and I'm big enough to own up to them.

The Parakeet Corner: One of nature's most overlooked and underrated animal species is the budgerigar, also known as the parakeet. I've done a lot of research on them, and condensed the most interesting information into an educational web page. Are you interested in their breeding cycles and where they live, or perhaps you're fascinated with their habits and intelligence? Then click here.

I put these links here for a reason, people. Some people put links on their sites to give props to their homeez, to fill up space, or for no apparent reason at all. However, I don't. I wouldn't link any site on my web page that I'm not willing to visit myself.
Spiritual Beauty: Ways of Expression: This is my good friend Faten's website. She's an artist and future architect, and we're certain to hear more from her in the future. She's also a wonderful and compassionate human being, and my Muslim sister. She helps chip away the cynicism with which I surround myself. I'm happy to add her page to my site.
Sex & Science: My friend Sophie's popular blog, which puts a thoughtful and scientific perspective on something that is so often the crude domain of the lowbrow. Do check it out.
Boogie Jack's Web Depot: A truly excellent website for amateur and professional web designers alike. Boogie Jack is nice enough to put HTML advice, web graphics, and wallpapers for freeloaders such as myself to use. Plus, he's a nice guy. So go check it out.
